Toshiba Gigabeat: iPod Killer?

While I’m waiting for the prices on music phones to go down, I’ve found an mp3 player that I’m really interested in buying.

The Toshiba Gigabeat offers a decent amount of features and I can’t help but be impressed with that color screen. Some of the features include:

  • 2.2 inch diagonal QVGA LCD color screen
  • 320 x 240 resolution
  • Photo viewer
  • 10 GB, 20 GB, 40 GB or a whopping 60 GB hard drive
  • Audio formats supported: MP3, WMA, and WAV
  • USB docking cradle
  • 16 hour lithium ion battery
  • 28 user selectable equalizers

Plus it looks really cool and has this iPodish style to it. The full specs for the 10 GB model can be found here. In my opinion, this kicks the iPod’s ass and I’d be dumb if I bought an iPod instead of the Gigabeat. Furthermore, it’s not like this is some kind of unknown company standing behind it, it’s Toshiba.

I’m thinking of purchasing the 20 GB model, in silver because I already have 6 GB of music, so it should last for a while.
