Reasons/Causes for violence in Haiti:
1) MISERY: I don’t believe it is an assumption even if I have not researched it. In general, when people have enough to eat and live decent lives, they don’t feel the need to steal, kidnapping, hurting/killing, etc. (this , of course, ignores the people who are mentally drawn towards commiting a crime no matter how much they have; they are the ones with some kind of mental disease). I am sure there are some time of statistics out there showing the relation between misery/poverty levels and # of crimes. 2) our history: there has always been violence in Haiti. It’s ingrained in the haitian people.
3)Laws are not reinforced: It would be interesting to see what crime was during the Papa-Doc dictatorship. People need to know that there are consequences to their actions. The police now doesn’t do anything at all no matter what the crime is.
zaza, while the chimere may be accounted for some of the crimes in Haiti, there was always crime even before the chimeres. Look at it in a more general way, and look at all types of crimes (homicide, rape, robbery, corruption…).
for 200 years, we have fought to maintain stability and order in haiti and what have our efforts reward us, just the usual, an unstable government and impoverish people trying to fend for themselves. The crimes we have witness in haiti today, the kidnapping, the coup-de-tar are the fault of upper class, those who in charge or in control of the government. estead planning to creat changes for a better haiti, they rather fight and maintain all the small material that being provide to the country…when a person spend days or weeks without eating of course that person comitted murder to survive but it is the government responsibility to create social program or job to keep these individual preocupied.
misery and poverty and the main causes of crime in haiti. The government refuse to do
anything about it because they lack consciousness and they are very immoral.
i am a jamaica and it grieves me as a caribbean person that other islands are doing little to nothing about the crime and violence, and the impoverished living in haiti. we havew to be our brothers keeper.jamaica is no bed of rose either, but at least we are trying. i sympathize highly towards the haitians, i am just sorry for the conditions that the people have to reside in. god bless, dont give up, god only gives us so much to bear.
Crimes are only symptoms. I agree with the posts. Poverty is one big cause of crime in Haiti. I think that Education should also be top priority because it opens opportunities for a person. EMPLOYMENT, AIDS, EDUCATION, POVERTY ALLEVIATION and FOOD SECURITY these things are crucial if crime rates are to be lowered. Haiti needs help from the rest of the world.
The main prolem of Haiti is Americans trying to assert control a country they can never, I mean never get control of. instead of trying to help, they do everything to destroy it, all the coup-d’etat, and instability are the results of outside influences trying to punish the Haitians for what they had the rights to do, achieve liberty.
The main reason is the lack of employment. If everyone had a certain job to do, they wouldn’t have to worry about stealing because even thought they wouldn’t get paid much, but they would still get a little cash, however, no job means more crime. they also have too much time in hand
