Hurricane Katrina
My last post had to do with hurricane Arlene which marked the start of the 2005 hurricane season. I went to Orlando during Arlene.
Now there was Katrina. Katrina wasn’t going to be a direct hit like Ivan, but Pensacola would still feel something. I stayed in town for this one. Not that I really wanted to, but I had no choice. I spent most of the day yesterday without power and even got to witness something blow up, including sparks and all, in the power lines on campus. Interestingly, the first thing that went through my mind when I saw those sparks was: “Wait, 4th of July was 2 months ago, so those can’t be fireworks.” It became obvious to me that it was something in the power lines when I noticed the lights go out in the Village West and Village East apartments.
All in all, this hurricane wasn’t so bad. I got 2 days off doing absolutely nothing. Louisiana got fucked destroyed though.

I was in Biloxi, MS. This hurricane was bad, real bad. Louisiana wasn’t hit too hard by the hurricane winds, we were, but the levy system failed causing most of the flooding, if the levies would have held, they would be much better of. We had over 20 tornadoes touch down two of which were less than a mile from where we sheltered. After the hurricane we went out and delivered MRE’s all over MS and LA.
