Dell XPS M1330

So I just got my Dell XPS M1330 today and I attempted to do a clean install of Windows Vista. It didn’t work. I’d keep getting a Blue Screen after the installation rebooted. The problem is due to the fact that the original Windows Vista disc does not have the Intel Matrix Storage Technology Driver. Here are detailed instructions on how to get you’re Windows Vista installation to succeed:

  1. Look for the Dell Drivers & Utilities disc that comes with your M1330.
  2. Copy the I386 folder to a USB memory stick. Make sure that the I386\R154200 folder is copied, it has the important drivers.
  3. During the “Where do you want to install Windows?” step, insert the USB memory stick and click “Load Driver.” The Windows Vista installation will scan the memory stick and automatically display the driver that applies to your M1330.
  4. Click [Next] and that’s it! You should now be able to successfully install Windows Vista on your M1330.

Having to load an external driver is a bit annoying to have to do, but what did you want me to do? Install Windows Home Premium? Hahahahaha…
